Change agent in a product transformation
Customers in more than 150 countries look to S&P Global Platts for news, pricing, and analytics to bring transparency and efficiency to markets. Platts' commodity benchmark price assessments are the basis for nearly 1,300 exchange-traded, cash-settled futures contracts.
I was brought in by the Chief Product Officer to reshape the siloed commodities verticals — Crude Oil, LNG, and beyond — rationalizing legacy tools and data complexity into a single modernized platform, through a major overhaul of information architecture and persona-driven personalization.
Grounding the platform in real user need
Before a single screen, I ran design-thinking workshops across global teams in London, Spain, and New York — bringing Subject Matter Experts, Technologists, and C-Suite Executives together to brainstorm the next phase of the Platts platform. In parallel, I interviewed Traders and Analysts directly and consolidated the findings in Airtable and Tableau.
Two drivers for growth, mapped end to end
Leveraging the research, I distilled two clear drivers for platform growth — and discovered that real-time Market Insights data was the very starting point users engaged with. I translated the findings into a full sitemap and Market Insights data flowcharts.
Real-time Market Insights
Surfacing live pricing, benchmarks, and commentary as the entry point to the platform — the first thing users reach for, made fast and findable.
Charting
A TradingView implementation let commodity topic pages and news be charted directly — supporting futures and forward-curve trading across multiple exchanges and commodities.
Refactor over rebuild
My analysis showed key requirements could be met with existing, refactored tools rather than net-new applications — creating significant savings on project budget.
A repeatable system for quality releases
I deployed and managed a UX team to produce hi-fidelity and north-star prototypes as a repeatable process — then codified how we worked so the quality would hold release after release, aligning weekly with the broader S&P Global creative leadership on cohesive style-guides and backlog priorities.
UX Playbook
A toolkit for intentional product releases — imparting design-thinking methodology and client-centricity so teams could ship deliberately and consistently.
Style-guide mini-site
Living documentation for engineers: redlines, annotations, components, and responsive layout guides — guidance available on a dedicated mini-site.
Lean loops, failing fast
We tested with internal and external audiences to eliminate the high cost of building the wrong thing — using an F-pattern lens for design solutioning, a hypothesis backlog of features to polish or sunset, and continuous validation with product management close to the customer.

From PDF prices to an award-winning platform
In 2019 prices went out by email as PDFs. By 2020 that was a net-new system shipping continuous, iterative releases — the award-winning launch of Platts Dimensions Pro, a desktop and mobile baseline spanning all commodities and analytical data, soon relaunched with Search, Market Insights, Dashboards, Benchmarks, Charting, and Alerts as Platts Connect.
